Vieira to leave City for Bayern

Current Manchester City reverses manager Patrick Vieira could be heading to Germany at the end of the season to take the same role with Bayern Munich, according to Bild's Thursday issue.

The German daily said the Frenchman is in contention to take over from Netherlands' Erik ten Hag, whose contract with the Bundesliga giants ends in June.

Vieira, 38, was seen on February 11 at the Bayern facilities, talking to coach Pep Guardiola and left-back David Alaba.

Michael Tarnat, Bayern's youth teams sporting director, wants to see ten Hag remain in Bavaria but admits it might be tough to keep the Dutch coach at the Allianz Arena.

"Erik wants to reach the highest level as soon as possible", explained Tarnat.

World Cup winner Viera retired in July 2011 after one season with the Citizens and was quickly appointed as the club's reserve team manager.
