Javier Martinez, who tore cruciate ligaments in August, flew out to Doha on Friday as part of a 26-player Bayern Munich squad warming up for the second-half of the Bundesliga.

Bayern's sports director Matthias Sammer said the 26-year-old Spanish holding midfielder would be progressively reintegrated into the Doha camp training sessions.

"We will be bringing back several of our injured players," Sammer told journalists ahead of the trip.

Defenders David Alaba and Holger Badstuber, who are also back from injuries, were on the plane for Doha too. But Philipp Lahm and Thiago Alacantara, with ankle and knee problems respectively, stayed behind.

Spain international Martinez went under the knife in Colorado in September to repair his torn cruciate ligament. His coach Pep Guardiola then delved into the transfer market to pry his compatriot Xabi Alonso away from Real Madrid.

In 2012 Bayern Munich broke their transfer record to buy Martinez from Athletic Bilbao on a 40 million euros (47 million dollars) five-year deal.

Double winners Bayern lead the German title race by 11 points ahead of their next game with second placed Wolfsburg January 30th.
