Badstuber moved by standing ovation on Bayern return

Bayern Munich's Germany defender Holger Badstuber admitted he was touched to receive a standing ovation after nearly seven months out with injury in Saturday's 4-0 Bundesliga win over Stuttgart.

The 26-year-old has endured a horror run of injuries and has been out since April with a torn thigh, but came on for the last half an hour at the Allianz Arena.

Injuries have restricted him to 31 caps for his country and a ruptured knee ligament he suffered in December 2012 forced him to miss the World Cup triumph in Brazil and more than 125 games for Bayern up until May 2014.

"That is outstanding, that's a really great gesture and gave me goosebumps," he said after coming on for goal-scorer Thomas Mueller.

Badstuber tore a thigh muscle in Bayern's 6-1 home win over Porto in the last 16 of the Champions League, second leg, last April, but was back on the bench for Wednesday's 5-1 group game at home to Arsenal.

"I want to say many, many thanks to the spectators for the way their received Holger, it was very emotional," added Bayern coach Pep Guardiola after the Allianz Arena crowd chanted Badstuber's name.

Badstuber made his last appearance in the Germany shirt at left-back in a 2-2 draw against Australia in March and made his debut just before the 2010 World Cup finals when Germany finished third.
