Bundesliga International, the German league's overseas branch, will open an office in New York next month as they attempt to corner the Americas market, it was announced Tuesday.

The New York office, which opens on October 16, will be the Bundesliga's second overseas bureau after Singapore, which opened in 2012.

"The Regional Head Office Americas is the logical step in expanding our presence in North, Central and South America to bring our clubs, players and the Bundesliga experience even closer," said Robert Klein, CEO of Bundesliga International.

The New York office will open with five employees including Melanie Fitzgerald, who becomes head of Bundesliga Americas after being director of international media at north America's Major League Soccer (MLS).
