French forward Jeremy Menez remains a doubt for AC Milan against Chievo on Saturday after being diagnosed with knee tendon inflammation, said the club.

Menez has been one of Milan's star performers this season as the fallen Serie A giants bid for a revival under new coach Filippo Inzaghi.

Menez underwent tests on Thursday, after which the club released a statement: "AC Milan informs that Jeremy Menez is suffering with an inflammation to the tendon in the area behind his left knee.

"The player will be evaluated in the following hours."

Milan sit sixth in Italy's top flight, seven points behind leaders Juventus after five games.
