Lazio take on Napoli in the last Italian Cup quarter-final on Wednesday, knowing that victory will bring an extra special reward - three derby matches agasint arch-rivals AS Roma in the space of a week.

The two Roman clubs, who share the tenancy of the Olympic Stadium, are already scheduled to meet in the league on February 9, while a semi-final clash over two legs would take place on February 5 and 12.

However, before the Lazio faithful can savour that prospect, there is the not inconsiderable matter of seeing off the threat of high-flying Napoli.

Rafa Benitez's men have slipped off the pace at the top of Serie A and are now third, 12 points adrift of leaders Juventus, so the Cup would seem to offer their best hope of a trophy this season.

And, in addition to the prize of a semi-final place, there are a couple of old scores to settle along the way.

On the field, the key clash could be between the two clubs' main strikers - Lazio's Miloslav Klose and Napoli's Gonzalo Higuain.

Particularly as the last time the two came face-to-face was in the World Cup in 2010 when Klose's Germany annihilated Higuain's Diego Maradona-managed Argentina 4-0 - with Klose chipping in with two of the goals.

Even so, both are likely to start on the bench as both clubs face a heavy calendar in February already with Europa League matches, but will probably feature at some point in the proceedings.

Then there is the question of Lazio's recently-appointed coach Edoardo Reja, who was Napoli president Autrelio de Laurentis' first managerial appointment when he took over the reins of the club back in 2005 and remained in charge for four years.

Wednesday's clash is also a match-up between the last two winners of the Cup, Lazio having beaten Roma 1-0 last year in one of the most memorable derby clashes in recent memory, while an Edinson Cavani-inspired Napoli beat Juventus 2-0 in the previous year's final.
