Ben Arfa pledges total commitment for Euro call up

On form Nice striker Hatem Ben Arfa has vowed to give his all should he make France's 23-man squad for Euro 2016, daily newspaper L'Equipe reported on Tuesday.

"I could go to the Euro and even if I never played a minute I'd be cheering the others on and encourage the others in training," said Ben Arfa, who is trying to shake of the idea he has a difficult personality.

"If the coach does not pick me it will be for sporting reasons," Ben Arfa insisted. "I'm in a great frame of mind these days."

"I can give a great deal to the France team. On the pitch and off."

Ben Arfa was called up for France after a three year absence last November, and is generally considered to have raised his game since then.

"If I was a substitute I'd give my all, and if I was a starter it would be the same," said the 29-year-old whose 17 league goals have made Nice a League 1 force this season.

"I would give absolutely everything I had for the team," vowed Ben Arfa, who worked under France coach Didier Deschamps at Marseille at the time of their last French league title in 2010.

Nice coach Claude Puel has built his Nice team around the astonishing dribbling talent of Ben Arfa, but even without Real Madrid's Karim Benzema, ruled out due to an alleged blackmail scam, France has a wealth of attacking talent to call upon.

In the running for the six places Deschamps is thought to be mulling are Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann, Arsenal targetman Olivier Giroud, Manchester United's Anthony Martial, Bayern Munich's Kingsley Coman, Mexico based Andre-Pierre Gignac and West Ham's Dimitri Payet.
